La Jolla Engagement Photos - Windan' Sea Engagement Session

We recently hit the beach at one of our favorite spots for engagement photos in San Diego, Windan’ Sea. With the right tide you are able to explore the beaches up and down the coast as well as the boulders that extend out into the ocean. So stoked to get to meet these amazing people and celebrate such an amazing time in their lives! Congrats Jake and Nicole! Take a look at a few beach engagement photos from their session.

Q: Let’s start at the beginning. How did you two first meet?

We met at a bar in Pacific Beach thru friends. It was the typical Pacific Beach night "guy meets girl", "guy pursues girl", We spent the rest of the night dancing and flirting, it was an amazing night. We both hate country music, but I will forever love Moonshine Beach for the sole reason of meeting Jake there.

Q: What makes your relationship special? Tell us some things that you both value in your time together. (example: pushing each other to new limits, love to travel, huge comic book fans, foodies, etc.) What makes your relationship unique?

I think what is most special about our relationship is that we truly deserve one another. We're both just good people, who care each other and about other people, and want to do good. I really value that we both want to take care of one another, and make each other feel happy and loved. It isn't a selfish relationship, which is why I think we work so well.

Q: How did you know your partner was the one? When did you first know this in your relationship? (these may often be the same moment, but aren’t always)

I think deep down I knew after our first date. Through all the first date nerves, I remember worrying about the fact that he wanted to join SWAT, and that he chewed tobacco, and thinking the chewing needed to stop (update: it hasn't). I could see a future with him from the beginning. I've never met anyone like Jake. He's confident, fun to be around, and he has the biggest heart and is incredibly thoughtful. He's the best person I've ever met. I've always wanted to be my best self to match how great he is. We've had great chemistry from the start, and I've always felt at home with him. I never understood the "when you know, you know" saying, until I met Jake.

Q: Give us all the details about the proposal. How and where did it happen? Was it a surprise? What was the planning process?

The proposal was a complete surprise. Jake said we should go to the zoo for my birthday, because it's one of my favorite places. I was dragging my feet the morning of, and was trying to change his mind and say we could do something else instead, because I knew he doesn't care for the zoo all that much. He convinced me to go, and I was still moody while we were walking around, because I hate having people do things that I don't feel they really want to do. We got to the open of a pretty deserty-floral area, and he said we should take a picture. I opposed, per usual, and begged to not take a picture. He urged that we needed to take a picture and I gave in and got into position. I went to put my arm around his waist for the picture, and that's when he turned and got down on one knee. I was totally surprised and can't remember anything he said, as I tried to process it all. It all goes by so quickly, but of course I said yes!

Q: We’re all about the bling… Tell us all about that ring!

Jake did such a good job! He picked it out all on his own, and it is gorrrrgggggeoussss. Absolutely in love with it.

Q: Are you excited to start planning your wedding day? Do you have any ideas in mind yet?

1000% so excited! We're both excited to have this day to be surrounded by our favorite people and celebrate our love.  I have a million ideas, and am excited to see how they all work out. We're in the middle of our planning process, and can't believe how quickly the time is passing. Can't wait for 4/3/2020!
