Best wedding venues in Southern California to have your wedding
Half the fun of being a wedding photographer is getting the chance to try new ideas in new places. Shooting at a new venue each weekend allows us to really be creative and try unique shots we have in mind. The past month or so we have had a few people reach out and ask for a few ideas to look into for their wedding, we have written about top places to get married at in California in the past, but thought we would share a few ideas specifically here in Southern California. Whenever we have couples ask for our opinion on venues to look into and what a few of our favorites are we love giving our feedback and helping in the decision planning. Here are a few extremely cool venues ranging from L.A to Temecula and in between.
Beach venue Ideas:
The Pointe – San Diego – The website does not show much as they recently started doing weddings, but the venue is beautiful. The ceremony takes place overlooking Mission Bay and the doc is open for romantics. An amazing location in the heart of Mission Beach. https://www.gettothepoint.io
Belle Air Bay Club - Los Angeles – “A country feel by the sea” epic views of the Pacific Ocean with picturesque Cliffside Lawn for ceremony and cocktail hour
The Womens Club- La Jolla – This venue is located just up the street from the cove with easy access to the beach, the ceremony site is outdoors with a covered indoor reception area with many areas for different photo opportunities
Ole Hanson Beach Club - Orange County – From San Clemente to Huntington, and everywhere in between like Laguna Niguel - Orange County has some of the best beaches and wedding venues in California. Old Hanson Beach Club is located right on the water in San Clemente. The venue has incredible views of the ocean with a Spanish style architecture that matches the vibe of San Clemente https://olehanson.com
Mission/Historic venue Ideas:
Ebell – Long Beach – Super cool historic wedding venue with long aisle, exposed white brick and textile floor
Kimberly Crest – Redlands – More of a castle than a mission, this venue looks incredible and definitely a place to consider if looking for more romantic/historic http://kimberlycrest.org
Mission San Juan Capistrano – Orange County – One of the most iconic missions in California, this is one of the most unique places to get married in Southern California
Flora – San Diego - Flora distinguishes itself with features like wainscot walls, custom doors, bespoke furnishings and the amenities of built-in ambient lighting https://www.venuereport.com/venue/flora-1/
Rustic/Ranch Ideas:
Two Sisters Farms – Temecula – For rustic style wedding venues in Temecula wine country we love the feel of this venue
Winter White Barn – Temecula – A newer venue that recently opened off De Portola, you are tucked away in the heart of the wine country with tons of trees and land
Wolf Feather Honey Farm – Temecula – Looking for more of a bohemian type style then this is it. The owners nailed every idea when creating this venue
Calamigos Ranch – Malibu – With five different areas to choose from, Calamigos is one of the top wedding venues in Malibu. Ticked away in the mountains you feel secluded in the L.A hills and is one of the best places to celebrate your wedding.
Cielo Farms – Malibu - The lush landscape and panoramic views at Cielo Farms serve as a wondrous backdrop for weddings. This magnificent Tuscan inspired estate looks over the entire mountain range. The estate currently spans over thirty acres, boasts expansive views of the Malibu Hills, and offers unmatched serenity and seclusion amongst the hundreds of olive trees.
The 1909 – L.A. - Tucked away into the rolling hills of Topanga Canyon, The 1909 is ideal for couples searching for a space unique to typical wedding venues. Settled below the rustic embrace of California Oak trees, and gently flowing waters of Topanga Creek, it provides the perfect balance of tranquility, timelessness, and rustic feel.
There are so many unique wedding venues in California and each person favors a different vibe. We say it all the time, but one of the best parts of being a wedding photographer is experiencing all of the different cultures and there is no better opportunity than at weddings. Each couple favors different ideas and that what makes each wedding for us so unique and fun. If you are panning your wedding and have a cultural tradition make sure to incorporate that into your wedding as it’s a special memory you and your family will remember forever.
