Local Stories // Shoutout SoCal with Andy Farra

Earlier last week I had the chance to sit down with Patrick of Shoutout SoCal, a great publication company spotlighting artists and creatives located here in San Diego and The Greater Socal region. Here is a glimpse of the article. Hope you enjoy!

Meet Andy Farra | Wedding Videographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Andy Farra and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Andy, what role has risk played in your life or career?
My approach to risk, is what’s the worst thing that can happen? You’re not going to make it out alive. Having my wife in my corner means everything and as long as she is behind my decision whether that be for our business, traveling, or investing I know we are good!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I love creating wedding videos. It’s truly something that is pure joy. Getting to connect with two people and celebrate with guests on the most important day of their lives is something extremely special.

I love being able to connect with people from all different walks of life and hear about how they met while at the same time having a perspective of filming “as a fly on the wall” and not over-directing but letting the day unfold. Our editing style can be described the same way. We like to showcase the day the way someone’s wedding day was. If it was slow tempo we have the video reflect that, if it was a large party we like to take a more modern day approach with a less traditional video and more of a fun highlight with quicker transitions and music.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Faith in none other than the lord above. By giving thanks for being able to breathe and live the life I live is an absolute blessing and something I am grateful for each and every day.

I spoke earlier about my wife, but she is the lifeline to our family and what keeps our photo & video studio moving forward.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Great question! San Diego is filled with so many incredible places. Living in north county for a couple years, to living in PB for several years and now being back up in South Oceanside it has been fun to see so many different areas of San Diego. Im no foodie or restaurant influencer but heres a short list of my favorite things to do making your way up the coast.

– Grab tacos in OB and head to Sunset Cliffs
– Hit Little Italy for drinks
– Take a boat out of the Mission Bay
– Hit birdock and surf at windansea followed by a burrito and beer
– Get some shots up at the Basketball courts in Solana Beach followed by drinks and apps in the arts district
– Roam Encinitas and hop on the volleyball courts at Moonlight Beach
– Carlsbad cliffs and make your way over to the street market for Wednesday night
– Coffee at Captains Helms in South O and kitchen sink burrito at Bucaneer Cafe and a night of karaoke at Larrys.

Perfect San Diego week/weekend!
