Exploring Banff National Park
Making our way through Banff
Each year we make it a goal to check off one bucket list location off the map - This year it was Banff & British Columbia. Last week we took the girls and hit a few trails and many, many car rides. Take a look at a few favorites.
Early morning drives, emerald blue lakes, and endless mountain peaks.
It was a dream trip - but after a few days the girls had enough lol We spent the next several days relaxing by our favorite lakes. Heads to the bottom to hear our favorites.
Sure you’ve heard of Moraine Lake and Lake Louise but in our opinion. They are severely over populated and not sure the hype was worth the sight. If you are traveling out here soon and looking for serenity without the crowds here are our personal favorites:
Banff, located in Alberta, Canada, is one of the most scenic places in the Canadian Rockies. Here's a guide to some of the best spots in Banff for outdoor adventures, breathtaking views, and unique experiences:
Lake Minnewanka
Why Visit: This large glacial lake is just outside of Banff town and offers a more relaxed setting for boating and picnics. It was hands down our most enjoyable part of the trip and a nice quick drive from downtown where we were staying.
Activities: Go on a boat cruise, rent a kayak, or hike the scenic Minnewanka Lakeside Trail.
Two Jack Lake
Why Visit: A quieter alternative to Lake Minnewanka, Two Jack Lake is perfect for picnics, swimming, and paddleboarding. Located in the same area, Two Jack Lake has its own vibe to it with a complete different mountain range and reflection.
Activities: Canoe, paddleboard, or simply relax by the lake.
Vermilion Lakes
Why Visit: If you are looking for the picturesque view of the jagged mountains with the reflection, this is your spot. Head here early morning at sunrise to avoid the crowds, although this is more a spot for photographers as opposed to hikers or tourists. Just outside of Banff, these lakes are perfect for wildlife spotting and serene sunrise or sunset photography.
Activities: Canoeing, wildlife watching, and photography.
